Disclosures: the facts behind Crane Finance loans
Who lends, what it costs, what tribal law means for you, and how this site is paid. Written so you can read it in five minutes — because an expensive loan deserves a clear disclosure.
01Who we are and what this site does
cranefinanceonline.com ("we", "the Site") is a loan-information and loan-request website. We are not a lender and we do not make credit decisions, fund loans, collect payments or service accounts. We publish plain-English guides about Crane Finance loans and we operate a loan-request form that connects you with lenders in our network offering installment loans of $200 to $5,000.
Crane Finance is the trade name of Crane Lending, LLC, a lender wholly owned by the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, a federally recognized sovereign nation, with offices at P.O. Box 477, Keshena, WI 54135 (855-432-7654, cranefinance.com). Crane Lending, LLC lends $100 to $1,500 directly to approved borrowers. Loan terms, approval decisions and funding are solely the lender's.
02APR, cost and representative examples
Crane Finance does not publish a fixed APR. The annual percentage rate is set per loan and disclosed in your loan agreement before you sign, as required by the federal Truth in Lending Act. Based on borrower-reported figures and court filings reviewed by us, APRs on Crane Finance loans have ranged from roughly 298% to over 700%. Lenders in our network set their own APRs, which may be lower or higher.
| Example | Amount | Payments | Each | Total repaid | APR (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Borrower-reported (Trustpilot) | $500 | 9 bi-weekly | $166 | $1,494 | 298.8% |
| Early payoff, same loan | $500 | 2 bi-weekly | ≈ $290 | ≈ $580 | 298.8% |
| Our network — illustrative | $2,000 | 12 monthly | ≈ $229 | ≈ $2,748 | 59% |
Examples are for illustration only and are not an offer. Your actual rate, number of payments and total cost will be stated in the agreement presented by the lender. Loans of this type are expensive and are intended for short-term financial needs, not as a long-term solution.
03Fees charged by Crane Finance

04Tribal lending and your legal rights
Crane Lending, LLC operates under the laws of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin and the Tribe's Consumer Financial Services Regulation. Its loan agreement states that tribal law, not the law of your state, governs the loan, and includes a dispute-resolution clause that generally requires arbitration. This means state interest-rate caps and some state licensing rules may not apply in practice, and your ability to sue in a state court may be limited.
Several courts and regulators have examined this structure: class actions alleging RICO violations were filed against Crane Lending, LLC in 2022, 2024 and 2025 and are at various stages, and the Washington Department of Financial Institutions has published an alert that Crane Finance is not licensed in Washington. Nothing on this Site is legal advice. If you have a dispute, the Tribe's Consumer Dispute Resolution hotline is 855-853-3869, and you may also file a complaint with the CFPB at consumerfinance.gov/complaint. 05How we are compensated
When you submit a loan request through this Site and a lender in our network extends you an offer, that lender may pay us a referral fee. This is our only source of revenue. It does not change the rate or terms you are offered, and lenders do not pay for placement in our editorial comparisons. We do not charge consumers any fee, at any stage, for anything. Anyone asking you to pay a fee to "release" or "unlock" a loan is not us and is not Crane Finance — see scam alerts.
06Credit checks and reporting
Submitting a loan request on this Site does not affect your FICO® score. Lenders in our network, including Crane Lending, LLC, may verify your identity, income and banking information and may obtain reports from alternative-credit agencies such as Clarity Services, DataX and FactorTrust, or from a consumer reporting agency, to determine eligibility. Crane Finance does not currently report payment history to Equifax, Experian or TransUnion; other lenders may. Non-payment may be referred to collections, which could appear on your credit file.
07Availability and non-offer
Loan products are not available in every state and availability changes without notice. Submitting a request does not guarantee an offer, an amount or a funding time. Funding times stated on this Site (next business day free; same-day by 6:00 PM Central for $5) are the lender's published targets and depend on verification, your bank and bank holidays. Nothing on this Site is an offer to lend, a solicitation in a jurisdiction where the lender is not permitted to lend, or financial, legal or tax advice.
08Accuracy of information
We verify figures against the lender's website, court dockets, regulator notices and review platforms and show a "checked" date on every page. We update pages when we learn of a change, but lenders change terms without telling us. If anything on this Site conflicts with your loan agreement, the agreement controls.
